Data Centre Afrika

According to the Daily News Egypt, Telecom Egypt is also seeking to provide integrated telecommunications services to new cities, after the agreement with Egyptian bank Banque Misr, to provide mobile payment and money transfer services to the company’s customers. .

Ahmed El-Beheiry, CEO of Telecom Egypt, said that this year witnessed the development of asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) services, noting that the company will complete 50% of the development plan by the end of 2018, and 75% by the end of 2019.

The company’s plan to attract new investments to Egypt in 2019, particularly that of data centres and outsourcing, adding that data centre projects rely heavily on secured marine cables, according to El-Beheiry.

The CEO added that there are many investment opportunities outside Egypt, but the company will not be moving in that direction until presented with a real investment opportunity.

El-Beheiry mentioned that the company is working on a brand new plan to capitalise on submarine cable activity, which includes the provision of Internet services to Europe crossing the Red Sea to two stations, in France and in Italy, under the name of Red to Europe.

Telecom Egypt’s total revenue in quarter three amounted to $400bn growing 65% year over year and a 32% increase in consolidated revenues fuelled by the inclined pace of data services.

El-Beheiry added: “We have also reached a milestone of fundamental importance to our retail offering as WE launched its one-bill product including mobile, fixed voice and data services in a year from the brand’s introduction in the market.”

In 2008, TE announced that it had completed the construction of a new data centre that used energy saving technology, selecting IBM to design and build the new facility.
